Search warrant executed near South Oakley Avenue and Apple Street

Two people were arrested after investigators executed a narcotics search warrant at a west Columbus residence near the intersection of South Oakley Avenue and Apple Street, just south of West Broad Street. The operation resulted in the seizure of suspected drugs, two firearms later described as stolen, and cash that investigators documented inside the home.

The warrant was carried out by detectives assigned to a regional drug task force operating in Franklin County as part of High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas enforcement efforts. Franklin County is among the Ohio counties designated within the Ohio HIDTA program, which coordinates intelligence-driven drug trafficking investigations across federal, state and local agencies.

What investigators say was found inside the home

Court records describing the search detail several items recovered during the entry and sweep. Investigators reported finding a large quantity of suspected drugs inside a toilet. They also documented a revolver located near a phone attributed to one of the suspects, as well as a rifle in a second-floor bedroom.

In addition, investigators reported a trail of cash that appeared to be scattered up a stairway toward the second floor and a large bundle of money found near the second suspect, who was located in the basement when taken into custody.

  • Suspected narcotics recovered from inside a toilet
  • A revolver located near a phone attributed to one suspect
  • A rifle located in an upstairs bedroom
  • Cash recovered in multiple locations, including a large bundle near a suspect

Firearms status and criminal justice context

Investigators reported that the firearms recovered in the residence were stolen. Court filings also describe both suspects as being on community supervision at the time of the arrests, with prior convictions involving drug and weapons offenses referenced in the case paperwork.

In search-warrant cases involving firearms, the status of a weapon as stolen can add separate criminal exposure beyond underlying drug allegations, depending on charging decisions and the evidence establishing possession or control.

What happens next

The arrests and seizures are expected to move through Franklin County’s court process, where prosecutors typically rely on laboratory testing for suspected narcotics, documentation of firearm serial numbers, and evidence tying individuals to specific items recovered during a search. Defense challenges in warrant cases commonly focus on the basis for the search, the scope of the entry and seizure, and whether evidence sufficiently links each suspect to the drugs, firearms or cash.

As the case proceeds, court hearings will determine bond conditions and whether the evidence outlined in the warrant return supports formal charges connected to drug possession or trafficking allegations, firearm offenses and any violations tied to probation or parole status.
